Inside the Park, the Water Path winds its way, which starts from the source of the Ermicciolo and continues for about 3 km.
Along the way you can make numerous detours to visit sites of considerable historical and naturalistic value. The route is part of a wider context, like the branch of the “Ring of Mount Amiata”, the largest and best known of the mountain. Circular in shape of about 30 Km, it runs through the volcanic cone at an altitude between 1050 and 1300 ml, straddling the provinces of Siena and Grosseto, between majestic beech, chestnut and fir woods.
From the Sources of the Ermicciolo to the Hermitage flows the Vivo stream where, starting from the Middle Ages, mills, paper mills, ironworks were built and, in the 1920s of the last century, a first power plant that exploited water energy. Traces of these ancient buildings are still visible, covered by vines, along all trekking routes.
We want to offer you 3 ITINERARIES which meet your needs. The tours have been designed by our local environmental guides, and can be customized.
